A few Saturdays ago, I went with my mom and sister to visit family in Kings Mountain, NC. My aunt and uncle had been telling us about a nearby winery that they wanted to take us to. After getting lunch at another local place, we made a short drive to Veronét Vineyards & Winery. This winery is just a seven minute drive from their home. That’s a pretty sweet deal.
We arrived at Veronét shortly before 4 PM. A large gate opened into a winding, unpaved driveway surrounded by pine trees. Once inside the winery, you are greeted by a stunning panoramic view of Crowders Mountain and The Pinnacle. The estate encompasses 70 acres, five of which are vineyards. The property is family-owned and sustainably farmed. According to Veronét’s website, they use environmentally friendly methods such as clay protectants while limiting the use of insecticides and herbicides.

There was a pretty decent crowd, but it wasn’t overwhelming. We found an area with several oversized chairs and pulled up some extra chairs as we were joined by my cousin’s girlfriend and friends of my aunt and uncle. It wasn’t too loud and we could all enjoy a nice conversation as we sipped wine.

My sister and I prefer sweet wines, so our uncle suggested a bottle of Orange Muscat 2018. We both enjoyed it. They others drank a bottle of red and a bottle of white. Every weekend, they have a food truck on site. They also offer nuts, olives, cheese boards, and charcuterie. If wine isn’t your thing, but you want to hang out, they also serve select North Carolina brews, Pure Intentions Cold Brew Coffee, and Birch Fine Tea loose-leaf tea. Outside food is allowed in the patio and lawn areas.
