We’re continuing with the Atlanta theme in this week’s post. If you missed last week’s post (this is why you should join my mailing list so you stay in the know), we were in Atlanta for Opening Weekend. Our hotel was 0.9 miles from SunTrust Park/Battery Atlanta, which is very convenient. BTW, in about a 24 hour period, we walked six miles between our hotel and the Battery. Our last day ended up being Easter. The Braves happened to be off since they played Thursday-Saturday to open the season.
My friends were invited to go to brunch with some friends that live in the area. Nikki and I had met them at a game the season before. They invited us to come along too. They chose Punch Bowl Social , which is located in the Battery. They have 13 locations throughout the US with more scheduled to open. I think the establishment would qualify as eatertainment as it combines both a restaurant and entertainment. Punch Bowl Social has two floors, though I didn’t get a very good look at the first floor since brunch was located upstairs. After we got upstairs, there was Bloody Mary bar set up on the right. We were originally going to wait for a table, but decided to eat at the bar to accommodate our big group. As we walked to the bar, we passed an area that had two virtual reality booths. On the left, there was a place to rent bowling shoes. You read that right. On the other side of the bar is a two lane bowling alley. In the same area with the bowling shoes, there were several stacks of board games. They also have two dart boards. On top of that, there are large flat screen TVs as well. This would be an awesome place for a birthday get together.

Punch Bowl Social has fancy menu items. They have quite a few items that are vegetarian or gluten-free. Of course, just because something is gluten-free doesn’t mean it’s soy-free and/or dairy-free. After speaking with the bartender/waiter (who had to speak with the chef), Nikki chose Lil’ Fried Bologna Sandwiches with tomato and an olive spread. While waiting for our food, Nikki read that olives can potentially cause an IBS flareup. She decided to scrape it off, especially since we had a 4.5 hour drive back afterward. Nikki really liked the food a lot.
I contemplated getting the Ricotta Cheese Pancakes, but I don’t like lemon curd or blueberry jam. I decided to order the Standard Breakfast which consists of eggs, bacon, crisp potatoes, and toast. I had a Mimosa and a water to wash it down. These were both good decisions as it was all delicious.
We really liked Punch Bowl Social. It has a cool atmosphere, delicious food, and great service. We look forward to going back again.
Prior to brunch, we decided to explore the Battery Atlanta with no crowds. We walked around Baseballism, which is an awesome store with baseball related clothing, pictures, and phone cases (made of baseball material!). We found our way over to the ballpark and took advantage of no crowds for photo ops.

I didn’t forget those of you looking for #foodporn that contains gluten and soy.
Although our trip was short, we throughly enjoyed it. I hope to get back to Atlanta soon. If you’d like to read more about our adventures in Atlanta, I got you covered: Road Trip Rewind-Part One, Zoo Atlanta, SunTrust Park, Atlanta Adventures, and Adventures in Atlanta.

I’m really enjoying taking a virtual trip with you to Atlanta Sam. I’ve only stopped over there for a few hours on the way to a conference in Philly and that doesn’t really count. Love the way Nikki described her food this time around. That makes a change after all the “blandness” she normally has to choose from. You know, before reading your blog I had absolutely no idea how difficult it must be for someone who suffers from a food intolerance (is that the right word?) to find a place that serves something decent that’s not going to mess up your system. It’s been a real eye opener for me
I’m glad you enjoyed the virtual trip! 🙂 Food intolerance would be correct since it’s not an allergy for her. We didn’t really have any idea until she had to change her diet so drastically. It’s not something you really think about until you or someone you know experiences it. Nikki says all the time that she’s lucky hers isn’t as severe as some people. IBS is no walk in the park, but she doesn’t have to worry about the risk of being hospitalized or even worse.
I have been to Atlanta only once but I remember liking the city. I also like the name of the restaurant. It is quite different and inviting.

I really like it Atlanta, but I HATE driving in it! lol One of the great things about the new ballpark is that it’s 20 minutes north of the city, so the traffic isn’t quite as bad. I had never heard of the restaurant until my friend told us about it. I kept wanting to call is Punch Drunk Social. Not quite it. 🙂
Punch Bowl Social looks like a great place to hang out and good thing to learn there are about 13 locations in the States. I do hope to try out this unique experience.
I hope you can too! I’d like to visit the other locations since each one is supposed to take on elements of the city it’s located in.
That’s so nice that you got to catch up with old friends and try somewhere new. The first image has me hungry, like honestly that looks simple but sooo tasty! The vodka cranberry looks nice too, I’ve never had one of those!
It was a really great time! Nikki really loved their food. We’ll probably go there again on our next trip to Atlanta. 🙂 A friend of mine from NY introduced me to vodka cranberry when I was visiting a few years ago. It’s me & Nikki’s go-to drink when we’re out.
Punch bowl social looks like a really nice place. I am loving the look of the place, the drinks and food look great. Your finds are always helpful for anyone with dietary restrictions, adding this place to my list to check out.
Thanks, Preet! I definitely recommend checking them out. I read that each restaurant takes different elements of the city they’re located, so it would be cool to visit all of the locations.
yo youre turning me vegan
Haha, there are some yummy options!
Amazing trip! I’m glad you find some great gluten-free options there, the pancakes sounded good, but what you finally chose looks delicious!
We had a wonderful time! My friend ended up getting the pancakes and she said they were delicious. 🙂
I enjoy these posts you do, it’s really interesting to know which places cater for dietary needs like this. I am glad you enjoyed your trip here.
Thank you, Elizabeth! I’m glad you enjoy the posts. 🙂
You found some delicious looking lunch selections. It’s so convenient that restaurants are considering how to accommodate people with dietary restrictions. There are so many more options now.
It’s a huge help for sure! It’s nice to add new places to go, especially in other cities.
This place sounds amazing, I would love to visit it! And your food looks bloody delicious, it’s so great that you found something for yourself. Here it’s so hard to find good places to eat if you have any dietary restrictions.
I definitely recommend it! It can certainly be difficult to find good food with dietary restrictions, so I like to share what we find. 🙂
