Reindeer Snack Mix (GF, DF, SF, Vegan)

We’re just a few days away from Christmas. How is it already time to celebrate my favorite holiday again? If you celebrate Christmas, chances are you’re getting ready for family meals and parties. Gifts? Check. Holiday outfit? Check. Adult beverages? Check. Food?…oh, crap. What was I supposed to bring? If you’re looking for a quick last minute dish, try this Reindeer Snack Mix. It’s quick, easy, and sure to be a crowd pleaser.

Reindeer Snack Mix comes with a variety of ingredients and is known by other names such as Reindeer Chow, Reindeer Food, Reindeer Crack, and Garbage Mix. A popular option is Chex mix/Muddy Buddies. We could make our own version, but decided to forgo the Chex mix.

For our version of Reindeer Snack Mix, we used just three ingredients.

Ingredients

-Popcorn

-Pretzels

-Chocolate chunks

To keep this recipe gluten-, dairy-, & soy-free, we used popcorn without cheddar. We recently discovered Gluck Popped Corn.  This popcorn is Kosher Certified, Vegan, and Non-GMO. They’re also free of preservatives, artificial colors and flavors, and trans fats.

The chocolate overpowers the olive oil and sea salt.

It has been really hard for us to find pretzels that are both gluten AND soy-free. Luckily, we found Snyder’s of Hanover. They have both pretzel sticks and mini pretzels. These pretzels are also free of dairy and eggs.

Hooray for pretzels that meet your dietary needs.

No reindeer mix is complete without chocolate. We love using Enjoy Life’s Semi Sweet chocolate. This time we used the Mega Chunks. Not only is this product free of gluten, dairy, and soy, but it’s also free of eggs, casein, fish, shellfish, wheat, lupin, sulfites, crustaceans, peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, and mustard. It’s also Certified Vegan and Certified Paleo Friendly.

These are yummy by themselves, tbh.

Instructions

-Place Mega Chunks in microwavable bowl and melt in microwave starting at 30 seconds. From there, melt in 15 second intervals. Stir.

-Cover pretzels and popcorn with chocolate by drizzling with spoon for easiest application. You can drop popcorn and pretzels into chocolate if you wish to coat them in chocolate.

-Place popcorn and pretzels on parchment paper on baking sheet.

-After all popcorn and pretzels are covered with desired amount of chocolate, place baking sheet in refrigerator for approximately ten (10) minutes.

Once chocolate has hardened, your Reindeer Snack Mix is ready to serve!

We decided to try a peanut butter cracker too.

We decided to start out with a small batch and it was really good! The good thing about Reindeer Snack Mix is that you can make as little or as much as you need. It’s also a great recipe to get kids involved with.

  1. That is so nice that there are so many different snack options for those that are gluten free. Some of these look really yummy.

  2. Nice to see all those options! You know I have so many friends who need this and still in Italy it is quite difficult to find a gluten-free places
